Top Soil

Topsoil is the upper, outermost layer of soil where most nutrients for plants are found. It has the highest concentration of organic matter and microorganisms and is where most of the Earth’s biological soil activity occurs.

This is a great all-purpose soil, designed for growing shrubs, trees and other plants that thrive in a fungal dominated environment. Plants generally concentrate their roots in and obtain most of their nutrients from topsoil.

We also carry “50/50 Mix” which is half topsoil and half compost and also a straight Compost Soil.

FAQ - What’s the difference/better the 50/50 or the Topsoil?

They both are the best. There’s a benefit to both materials. The difference has to do with how you will be using the materials. The 50/50 is better when you do not need to spread it over 2″ thick. It is intended for use when re-seeding and planting. It has 50% compost and 50% of our Topsoil blended to give you a compost heavy material. It does compact more than topsoil, and will not hold its shape over time as the compost breaks down. The Topsoil is multi-purpose and can be used in all applications. Seeding, regrading, building berms, or filling in low spots/holes are all uses that Topsoil is perfect for. Topsoil is great for when structure is important. It is a hard to answer the question as it all has to do with what you are using the material for.
